2012 BMW 328i (Alpine White)
We’ve a minimum price for any coatings because 1) Prep is key for a proper install. 2) How much polishing can differ (time), but the amount of prep prior to even getting a machine on the paint is fairly known. 3) The time it takes to coat is fairly known.
This one was a bit of an outlier though, a 2012 Alpine White 328i with 115K miles, and which “probably hasn’t been washed in a year”. The prep alone took nearly 3 hours just to get it in a state ready for polishing. Nearly 32oz of iron decon (which is probably one of our most expensive prep chemicals by the way; up from our usual 6-8oz) was used. This car obviously gets driven a lot, it’s got its fair share of dings, scratches, lots of rock chips, and even a keying along the driver side, but the owner wanted to refresh the car a bit to give it some life again. We did a single step polish with intent to enhance but not perfect, and topped it with an entry level 1yr ceramic coating, CS2 B268. Far from perfect, but for something that fit the budget, it turned out pretty good.
