2020 BMW M8 Competition (San Marino Blue)
2020(1?) BMW M8 Competition in San Marino Blue — this car was supposedly coated by a shop not far from us with a “lifetime” multilayer coating. We did the wife’s glc a couple months ago. They had an accident spilling touch up paint onto both cars while shaking the pen/bottle. It wiped right off on the Glc but did not on the M8. During the prep wash we had noticed that for a “coated” car the water sat very flat on majority of the car. As if, only the passenger side door, quarter, and trunks were the only parts that were coated on this car. That’s when we found out that it supposedly had a “lifetime” multi”layer” coating on it. We ended up salvaging the driver fender ppf that we were originally going to replace. Added ppf to both front doors, and since we felt bad that they were pretty much scammed, threw in an entry level coating on our newly installed work as well as all of the panels that appeared to have not been coated. The owner also had reason to suspect that the wheels were not coated, and so he had us pull them off to be coated inside and out, including the calipers. It’s pretty frustrating to see someone get scammed and outside of this discovery the owner was already determined to not going back to that shop. Don’t get me wrong, mistakes happen, but own up to your mistakes to make it right. And there is zero excuse for a “multilayer” “lifetime” coating to be completely non existent on a recent/months old install, especially missing on more than half of the car.
Don’t ask me who, I won’t put them on blast like that.
