2014 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Z71 (Luxo Blue Metallic)
This was an interesting one. We actually spoke with this owner many months ago about working on this truck, but since space was limited at our previous location, we were unable to service his car. Well, he was patient and waited for us to both find and move into our new space — and so here it is. This car was previously repainted, and prior to bringing the car in, the owner brought it through a touchless car wash to try to minimize the amount of cleaning we had to do to get cranking on the polishing work. Well, the chemicals used in those automatic/touchless car washes are usually quite acidic or caustic, and the chemicals seemed to have stripped whatever the last body shop applied onto the surface, exposing many swirls throughout the paint. We usually document our work, and so we had sent a quick walkaround video of the car (still clearly dirty, since touchless washes never gets a car 100% clean) - and which the owner was taken aback since he thought the paint was in great shape. Long story short, we ended up doing a two step polish on this car, touched up a few rock chips, and removed some clear coat overspray on the driver side repainted areas. The owner made it clear that he did not want anything applied to the car that made the car look superficial, and wanted a more natural “waxed” look. We recommended to go with Opticoat Pro+, which in the end completely met the customers expectations in the final look. Thanks D!
